ผู้ไม่เห็นทางอมตะ
ถึงมีชีวิตอยู่ร้อยปี
ก็สู้ชีวิตวันเดียวของผู้พบ ไม่ได้

Better is a single day’s life of one
Who sees the Deathless
Than a hundred year’s life of one
Who sees not that state

เอกาห ชีวิต เสยุโย

สัญจรไปคนเดียว

ถ้าไม่พบสหายที่เข้ากับตนได้
มีความประพฤติดี ฉลาด และเฉลียว
ก็ควรสัญจรไปคนเดียว
เหมือนพระราชา
สละราชสมบัติเที่ยวไปองค์เดียว
หรือไม่ก็เหมือนพญาช้าง
ละโขลงเที่ยวไปตัวเดียวในป่า

If for faring-on you cannot find
A friend, well-behaved,prudent and wise,
Fare alone as a king renoucing his conguered land
And as an elephant roaming alone in the wilds.
